How to use Individual Article Hero Images

In this article, you can see how to add Individual Hero Images for your articles.

Below is the steps on how to achieve this, and at the bottom, you can see a video guide as well.

Guide on adding Article Hero Image

Choose your image

First of all, you need your image. It is advised, that you adjust your image to the size of your other hero elements, as the height of the hero elements is controlled from one setting, "Hero height" in the "Hero settings" panel.

The advised image width is 1920px in order to support the largest screens as well.

When you have found your image and resized it to your needs, it is also advised to run it through some image compiler, to minimize the image file size for performance purposes, meaning loading times, etc.

I usually use tinypng.com

Rename your image

In order for the theme to be able to find your image and use it as the article hero image, you need to rename the image to the ID of the article where you want it present.

You can find the article by being in the editing of said article, or visit it on the Help Center, and look to the URL bar of your browser.

In the URL you will after the last dash, see a string of numbers, followed by the article title using "-" instead of spaces - those numbers are your article ID.

Upload the image as an article attachment

Once the image is resized, compiled, and renamed, you are gonna go to the editing space of your article, inside the Guide Admin area

Once in the editing mode of the article, you should look for the "Upload attachment" area in the bottom right-hand side of the article settings.

Click the link, find your image on your PC in the File Explorer, and upload it. Once done, save your article, and watch your fine new article hero image in action.

Huddi the Help Center

This Help Center has a lot of features to simplify the look and feel of your Help Center.

Actually, even this text show on the Help Center is a neat little feature to allow you to have an actual homepage text on your Zendesk Help Center, which is not a standard feature.

How it works, and how to set it up, can be seen here.
